Privacy Policy
The Sova app and web version
Revision of 29 July 2026
In short
Sova requires no registration and does not ask for your name, phone number or email. There is no free text input in the app — every line in the conversation with sova is written in advance, so no correspondence exists in the first place. We do not request access to your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
The only thing collected is anonymous usage statistics (which screens are opened, which techniques are chosen, how long people breathe) — so we can tell what works in the app and what does not. The data is processed by Yandex services and stored on servers located in the Russian Federation.
Separately: the mysova.app website itself uses Yandex.Metrica for anonymous visit statistics (no personal data) — see section 3.3.
Below is the same thing in full.
1. Who processes the data
The data controller is Individual Entrepreneur N. A. Tkachev (hereinafter — "we").
Contact for any questions or requests: hello@mysova.app
2. What this policy covers
- the Sova mobile app for Android;
- the web version (PWA);
- the mysova.app website (the landing page).
The app and the web version are referred to below as "the app"; the landing page is covered separately in section 3.3.
3. What data is processed
3.1. Anonymous usage statistics
Yandex analytics services — AppMetrica and Yandex.Metrica — collect information about how the app is used:
- screens being opened;
- the start, pause and end of a breathing session, the technique chosen and its duration;
- the rating of how you feel after a session ("how are you now");
- picking a mood, pressing the emergency help button, starting a session by how strong the anxiety is, choosing from the library, adding to favourites;
- steps in the conversation with sova (which step you were on and which of the ready-made answers you tapped — the answers themselves are written in advance by the developer);
- the answer you gave at first launch to the question about what brought you here;
- changes to settings.
Along with these events, the analytics services automatically receive technical information: the device model and type, the operating system version, the app version, the browser, the screen resolution, the language and region from system settings, an anonymous identifier of the app installation or the visitor, and the IP address.
Yandex.Metrica uses cookies and includes Webvisor — a recording of anonymous on-screen activity (scrolling, taps) used to study usability. There is no free text input in the app: the conversation with sova runs on ready-made answers, so a name, an email address, a phone number or any other personal data cannot end up in the recording.
This data contains nothing that could identify you personally, and it is not combined with any other data about you.
3.2. Data that stays on your device
Settings, favourite techniques, custom rhythms, session statistics and how far you got through the first-launch questions are stored locally on the device and are not sent to our servers. They are deleted along with the app (in the web version — when you clear the site data in your browser).
3.3. Analytics on the mysova.app website
The mysova.app website (the landing page, separate from the app) uses Yandex.Metrica to understand how visitors use the page and what is worth improving. The information collected is anonymous:
- the referral source, the pages and blocks viewed, clicks, scrolling, cursor movement;
- the device and browser type, the operating system, the screen resolution, the language;
- an anonymous visitor identifier, the IP address.
Metrica uses cookies and includes Webvisor — a recording of anonymous on-screen activity (cursor movement, scrolling, clicks) used to analyse how convenient the page is. There are no forms and no free entry of personal data on the site, so names, emails, phone numbers and other personal data do not end up in the recording.
The data is processed by the Yandex.Metrica service and stored on servers located in the Russian Federation. You can opt out of the collection by disabling cookies in your browser settings or by using the official Yandex.Metrica opt-out tool.
4. What is not collected
- first name, last name, date of birth, gender;
- email address, phone number, accounts in other services;
- precise location — the app does not request access to geolocation. The country used to show emergency phone numbers is determined from the device's own regional settings;
- the content of any correspondence — the conversation runs on ready-made answers, so there is nothing to type;
- information about your health, diagnoses or medication;
- contacts, photos, files, access to the camera and microphone.
No account is created in order to use the app.
5. Why this is needed
Anonymous statistics are used only in order to:
- understand which features people use and which go unnoticed;
- find the places where people interrupt a session or get lost in the interface;
- assess whether the techniques help (from aggregated "how are you now" answers);
- find and fix bugs.
The data is not used for advertising, is not passed to ad networks and is not sold to third parties. And we make no decisions about you on the basis of these statistics.
6. Grounds for processing
Processing is carried out with your consent: you give it by using the app after reading this policy. The second ground is improving how the software works, which the law allows.
Consent may be withdrawn at any time — see section 9.
7. Who the data is shared with
| Who | Why | Where it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| AppMetrica (Yandex JSC) | collecting and processing anonymous app statistics | Russian Federation |
| Yandex.Metrica (YANDEX LLC) | anonymous statistics for the web version and for visits to mysova.app | Russian Federation |
The data is not passed to any other third parties, except in cases directly provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation.
The app is distributed through the RuStore app store, which independently processes data about downloads and installations in accordance with its own privacy policy.
8. Retention periods
Anonymous statistics are stored in the analytics services for the period set by them and are used in aggregated form. Data on your device is stored until the app is deleted or its data is cleared.
9. Your rights
You have the right to:
- receive information about the processing of data;
- demand that data be corrected, blocked or deleted;
- withdraw your consent to processing.
To do so, write to hello@mysova.app. Since the data is anonymous and not linked to your identity, handling your request may require the app installation identifier — you can find it in the app settings under "about the app".
You can stop the transmission of statistics entirely by deleting the app from your device, and in the web version by clearing the site data in your browser.
10. Children
The app is not intended for children under 12 and does not knowingly or deliberately collect data from children.
11. Security
Data is transmitted to the analytics services over a secure connection. We do not store user data on our own servers, which in itself reduces the risk of a leak.
12. Changes to this policy
The current revision is always available at mysova.app/privacy. If there are substantial changes, we will update the revision date at the top of the document.
13. Contacts
For any questions about data processing: hello@mysova.app
Sova is support, not treatment. The app is not a medical device and does not replace seeing a doctor. If things are hard right now, findahelpline.com lists free and confidential helplines in your country; in the US and Canada you can call 988, in the UK and Ireland — 116 123.
